My criteria is mostly based on vibes:

  1. sparkly eyed people: sometimes you can see a sparkle in someone's eyes when they talk, or they are so competent that you get immersed in whatever they are talking about, or you can physically feel their excitement, etc. it is a lot of fun to be around such people!!

  2. do i think the idea is cool

  1. reindustrializing the US. see notes on china
  2. solar panels and electricity going to 0
  3. starship cost per ton going down
  4. what sectors China will never be good at or be able to penetrate?
  5. bci: i can physically feel the pain of communicating with models. i want them to just know what im thinking, and i think this is the direction we are going to go in
  6. aviation: flying experience is atrocious
  7. ai stuff: im pretty confident that most digitial tasks can be automated with a combination of: smart models, designing some part of the task to work around the limitations of the model, and task specific rl environments/datasets.
  8. if humanoids work out and cost of labor goes under 10k, what new use cases open up?
  9. superhuman: longevity + health
  10. supply chain for drones, data centers, and other robots
  11. world models: sim for everything
